Ruth Cioffredi, OTR/L

Accounts Payable, Occupational Therapist

Ruth graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1981 with a degree in Occupational Therapy and a minor in psychology. She specializes in hand therapy, treating painful problems of the hand, wrist, and thumb. Ruth was a charter member of the American Society of Hand Therapists. Her involvement in hand therapy spans over 35 years, during which time she has been instrumental in the design and development of hand clinics with surgeons. She also spent eight years as an Associate Professor in the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at River Valley Community College. She started her career at Dartmouth Hitchcock, where she met her husband Bill, and in 1985 they opened Cioffredi & Associates.

Ruth describes her treatment philosophy as eclectic, drawing from a variety of techniques based on the symptoms a person presents with. She uses manual therapy, along with therapeutic exercise and patient education to enable her patients to handle future symptoms they might encounter after being discharged from OT. Ruth also helps patients to incorporate principles into their daily routine that will help to reduce stress or irritation of the tissues that contribute to their symptoms. She uses static splinting and over the counter orthotics when needed to complement treatment.

Ruth is currently not practicing, but still provides Accounts Payable and administrative support for Cioffredi & Associates. Her interests include spending time with family, running, skiing and hiking. Ruth resides in Lebanon, New Hampshire with her husband, three daughters, and son.
