Nick Franssen, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Nick holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Vermont (2020) and a Bachelor’s in Health Science from Castleton University (2017). He has experience in a wide variety of clinical settings, but most recently served on U.S. Ski and Snowboard, where he was the primary Performance Physical Therapist for 2x Olympic Gold Medalist alpine ski racer Mikaela Shiffrin. In addition to his doctorate, Nick is Certified in Neurologic Dry Needling for Pain Management and Sports Rehabilitation through Integrative Dry Needling.

Nick grew up in Scranton, PA. He became interested in Physical Therapy as a high school student athlete and went on to pursue a degree in Health Science from Castleton University, where he competed four years as an alpine ski racer. Directly after receiving his B.S., he transitioned to pursue his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Vermont.  Nick gained experience in a wide variety of clinical settings but developed a special interest in outpatient sports and orthopedics. He proceeded to travel extensively with the U.S. Ski Team as the primary PT working with 2x Olympic Gold Medalist alpine ski racer Mikaela Shiffrin. His work focused on both injury prevention programming and the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of acute injuries. This includes movement competency assessments, sustainable load management, manual treatments to promote recovery, and corrective exercises to optimize movement quality. Most recently, he attended the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, China as a member of Team USA.

At Cioffredi & Associates, Nick provides Orthopedic and Performance PT services out of the Lebanon clinic, applying his extensive training background and knowledge acquired from managing and treating the best athletes in the world. He prioritizes working with his clients in one-on-one sessions to enhance performance and meet their individual goals, whether that’s returning to work or getting back on the slopes.

Outside of the office, Nick enjoys activities such as skiing, golfing, mountain biking, running, hiking, and playing tennis.

“I am so glad that Nick has come to the Upper Valley… I found Nick to be interested, involved, and able to bring his experience to keep me interested. I learned a lot from Nick, challenged myself and am once again feeling wonderful. Thanks to Nick’s knowledge, humor, and down to earth personality I am looking forward to doing 5K charity walks, keeping up with my family and the dogs – and generally enjoying life again!” -Sue Deaett
